Danesfield House Hotel & Spa
However, our printout showed there was to be 2 of us. This was easily remedied with the allocation of different accommodation. Our stay was very much enjoyed with only praise for facilities, staff, accommodation, food and location. We had a lovely stay, staff friendly and professional ,room nice, sadly we had a view of a skip, and no hot water in the hand basin, although it was tepid, asked on two occasions for it to be looked at, but still didn't get any. I come to Danesfield for my birthday every year. The staff are so friendly and professional.
I had a chocolate birthday cake left in room for me with a birthday card if Danesfield house. The rooms are beautiful and the views are fantastic. We took advantage of the spa facilities and totally relaxed. We love it here. We ate at the restaurant and the food was great.
The only down side is the drinks are very expensive. We brought some champagne with us to have in the room. I am so glad that we were able to celebrate your birthday with you and I do hope that we have the good fortune to welcome you back to Danesfield House in the future. Danesfield House was in an excellent location with beautiful grounds and views. The public areas were decorated nicely for Christmas and the open fires added to the atmosphere.
Dined in the hotel on our first night and because we had not booked ahead were put in the conservatory part of the restaurant which with all the glass lacked some ambience on a cold winter's night. There is a very smart, more warmly decorated part to the dining areas - The Oak Room. The menu is the same in both parts and yet they seem like two different restaurants.
This to me is a bit of a fault as the Oak Room would seem to lend itself to fine dining and the Patio to brasserie style. I felt a little as if one was a better place to be than the other specially given the same menu and therefore was a bit disappointed. The food was fine but nothing special. Service in general was willing if sometimes not highly polished.
Room was full of character with good amenities. The spa and leisure facilites were very good. We had to ask for the upgrade, though it was given willingly, and there was nothing taken off the bill for spa etc. The wrong room rate was charged. We did enjoy our stay at Danesfield House and would return. Dear Mr Hardwidge, Thank you for your review of Danesfield House and I am glad that you enjoyed your stay on the whole.
We will certainly be looking into the points that you have raised regarding the restaurant and the discounts that you are entitled to. We do look forward to welcoming you back to Danesfield House in the near future and please rest assured we will act upon your comments. Stayed three nights and booked extra rooms for family to join me. Food had improved since my last visit two years ago.
Views over the Thames from the gardens still wonderful. The concierge was very helpful as was the barman who demonstrated extensive knowledge of single malt whisky. Only fly in the ointment was the noisy wedding party on Saturday night. Luckily my room was far enough away from the band but I was still woken by drunken revellers returning to their rooms at 5am. Ask if there will be any parties on the night you are staying or request a room away from the hall.
Overall we all enjoyed our stay and I would recommend the hotel to other members. We do hope to welcome you back to Danesfield House in the near future. Really nice and comfortable hotel. Very clean and the staff was always very helpful. The surroundings are amazing, such a beautiful place. What I would recommend though is more variety on the room service menu. For the ones who are travelling on business, it's often required to work late in the room and having a wider variety of sandwiches and salads or even quick meals, would be a nice-to-have.
This is our second stay at the hotel and it was as good as the previous stay two week prior.

The staff go above the call of duty to try and assist where ever possbile it maded our stay relaxing and really enjoyable the rooms are good but the last one we had was a little small even though it was a delux situated in a turret - I would suggest after our first stayt that the rooms with the balcony which over look the grounds are bright, large and far greater than the ones in the turrets for the same price.
We walked all around the grounds which are magical, large and some areas where hidden away with wooden seating.
Beautiful hotel and location. We were attending a wedding at the venue and, whilst our hotel stay was very enjoyable, we were not overly Impressed with the way staff handled the wedding arrangements. Would definitely return to stay at the hotel, though.
Danesfield House Hotel & Spa
Lovely stay for my Birthday. Beautiful setting and grounds. Weather was lovely so able to enjoy afternoon tea and pre dinner champagne on the beautiful terrace. We also ate evening meal out there admiring the lovely view. Upgraded to river view room which was really lovely, large and spacious with good size bathroom which also has a bidet nice extra which you don't get very often in the uk. Everything in the room - tea coffee iron ironing board etc.
If the weather is very warm the bedrooms are very hot. A large fan is provided but still very hot. We have been staying at this hotel on and off for about ten years. The location is fantastic, quiet and secluded. Leisure facilities first attracted us to the hotel and they continue to be of a high standard. The dining experience is always good, great menus and wine. Cocktail bar has a comprehensive malt selection.
see Staff always helpful and friendly. The rooms become hot and stuffy and you cannot cool them down. Christmas at Danesfield is magical. Its always so relaxing here and the staff are very friendly. The Spa and Gym are really good as is the pool. Food is good and there is a really cute bar. The rooms are lovely and I did have a very nice upgrade. It was my birthday and they put a delicious chocolate cake in my room. My only complaint is that the rooms are not air conditioned and so require a noisy fan in warm weather which does not make for a good nights sleep.
We travelled back from our wedding in Barbados for a family and friends celebration and stayed at the Danesfield The staff worked very hard to make our stay memorable and the breakfast in bed was superb. Very nice public facilities. Gardens, dining , lounge areas , spa all looked very nice. Our junior suite was a fraction of the size of our friends junior suite, even though we booked within minutes of each other. Room was tired. There was a dirty sock from the previous guest left on the floor.
There was no heating in our room. It was broken. Reception were unhelpful regarding room change and heating. Manager offered a discount on the room and got heating repaired by morning. Their bathroom was in need of a makeover.
Good location, charming house, Nice garden, Nice vores, Nice Food, let down by poor staff, in general. Poor reception. Poor introduction by The well tipped porter. No table available in good restaurant. Not asked to book upon check-in. Reception not helpful to find restaurant outside hotel. We enjoyed our stay. The weather was kind so it was a wonderful venue to walk round the grounds and admire the views of the Thames valley.
There were plenty of quiet places to sit and chat, including the Orangerie where we had breakfast and our evening meal. The lounge was especially worth a visit with it's wood panelling and high ceiling, the features of the hotel have a lot of character and the staff are happy to please. We would recommend this hotel very highly. It is in a country hose type building, which has been well maintained.
We were very happy that good strength wifi internet was included without extra cost, but we have encouraged management to arrange it so that one did not have to relog in every 24 hours. A beautiful building with a lovely outlook and gardens. Staff were welcoming and helpful on arrival and throughout our stay. Relaxed atmosphere and beautiful room.
A good choice for breakfast and service was very good. We had been to Danesfield before for afternoon tea and general visits but never stayed over.

I decided to treat us to a Spa Weekend, so booked a Junior Suite and some treatments in the spa. Despite a later than expected check in room wasn't ready until , we had a great time. The room was amazing, with fantastic views over the grounds, a lovely 4 poster bed and a great balcony area. The bathroom was slightly small vs the rest of the room, but this didn't really concern us. The meal in the Orangerie was excellent. A lovely setting with great service.
The bar area is also very cosy and a great setting. Breakfast was fantastic! Our spa afternoon probably wasn't as great as I had hoped. The treatments we had were fine, but the spa is small so we had planned to go and relax by the pool for an hour or so after the facials, but all the beds were taken - so we had to go back to the room. Therefore the "Spa Weekend" turned into more of a "weekend" but thankfully the room was so nice, we were happy to relax in there instead. We did return to the Spa on the Sunday morning and were able to use the beds and pool.
However the steam room was a real disappointment. It smelt stale and had dirt all over the floor.
